EVALUATE STORY THEME - WAR CAN AFFECT MANY GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE

In my opinion, the three Themes were all correct. However, if asked me to choose one, I would prefer the theme War can affect many generations of people.
Vietnam War in general was a combat between Vietnam and France in 1954, and was split into two halves such as North and South. The South it owns was in advance of weapons provided by the Americans. As it happened, thousand of people were killed, cause Deaths everywhere. Some soldiers who served in Vietnam War were luckily alive; however they were affected by a syndrome that called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, in which caused them suffered anxiety, nightmare, aguish and depressions.
Terry’s father was an excellent example for the PTSD, according to what Terry’s mother had said and the story of war that father told Terry. As Terry noticed the weird behavior from his father, he started to felt embarrassed, in which bothered him a lot and he desired to find out the conclusion of his dad’s weirdness. We can greatly see the connection of how War Affects Many Generations, in which Terry’s dad was effected through war, and that War affection bothered Terry, in which caused him motivation to discover the conclusion.
But PTSD was not the only major problems since the Agent Orange Syndrome existed, which brought tragedies to lots of kids. It took away different parts of their bodies, in which they couldn’t function as well as the normal people. Just Imagine you didn’t use your hand for one, how hard is it going to be? But they had to suffer that Lost for lifetime, without any complains. Unfortunately, AOS can be passed through Giving birth, so then the amount of AOs would eventually be increased. We couldn’t reduce it, since it was lack of medicine.

  1. Interesting response. I like that you are looking outside of the story for connections and seeing how it affect not only the generations of the story, but also different generations globally.
